Fashion: The Golden Globes, from best to worst

    BEST DRESSED:

    1. EMMA STONE IN CALVIN KLEIN COLLECTION

Up and coming actress Emma Stone looked stunning for her first Golden Globes. This crew cut, backless, custom Calvin Klein number caught everyone’s attention. Stone has fair skin; so going with a lighter shade of peach might have been risky, but she looked flawless. A simple, classic gown is what the red carpet needed.

    2. CLAIRE DANES IN CALVIN KLEIN COLLECTION

Golden Globe nominee and winner Claire Danes graced the red carpet in a custom pink Calvin Klein halter. With a cinched waist, this silk gown looked perfectly tailored for Danes’ statuesque figure.

    3. ANGELINA JOLIE IN VERSACE

Angelina Jolie doesn’t make very many appearances, but when she does, she always looks breathtaking. This Swarovski-encrusted Versace dress fit her like a glove. Jolie usually sticks to darker tones, so the green tone of the gown was a nice change. Out of all the sparkle I saw on the red carpet, I think this one took the cake.

    4. ANNE HATHAWAY IN ARMANI PRIVE

Bubbly actress Anne Hathaway has been a red carpet fixture for some time now, and she never ceases to impress the fashion police. This might have some to do with her celebrity stylist, Rachel Zoe. Hathaway’s backless Armani, from the F/W 2011 couture collection, was embellished with paillettes and Swarovski crystals.

    5. JANUARY JONES IN VERSACE

“Mad Men” star January Jones has become somewhat of a Hollywood bombshell. She always looks fierce on the red carpet. Jones said she saw this red cutout fringe Versace on the runway in Paris in a different color, and knew she had to have it. It’s daring to wear red on the red carpet, but Jones looked fabulous.

    6. JULIANNE MOORE IN LANVIN

Long time star Julianne Moore turned heads in this bright pink, one-shoulder silk Lanvin. This dress has gotten a lot of criticism, but I think it was fabulous. The jewels around her neck look as if they are connected to the dress, but they are two yellow gold and diamond Bulgari necklaces.

    WORST DRESSED:

    1. HELEN BONHAM CARTER IN VIVIENNE WESTWOOD

This looked like a prom dress gone bad. Vivienne Westwood is an amazing, accomplished designer, but this number belongs on the runway. Carter sported two different color shoes and untamed hair. I understand making a statement, but this is taking it way too far.

    2. MICHELLE WILLIAMS IN VALENTINO

Michelle Williams doesn’t usually disappoint on the red carpet. It looked like she was on her way to Bonnaroo with this daisy printed frock. I never would have guessed that it was Valentino. This was just awful.

    3. JENNIFER LOPEZ IN ZUHAIR MURAD

J-Lo looked extra frumpy in her white gown. Lopez is a beautiful, curvaceous woman, and this dress really aged her. The embellished shawl was completely unnecessary.

    4. JULIANNE HOUGH IN MARCHESA

What we have here is a Marchesa gone completely wrong. This looks more like a Cleopatra Halloween costume than a red carpet gown. The choker was just too much for the Golden Globes.

    5. HALLE BERRY IN NINA RICCI

Halle Berry is stunning no matter what she wears, but this dress just wasn’t doing it for me. The Golden Globes is supposed to be classy and elegant. This daring Nina Ricci bustier just didn’t seem appropriate for the Best Actress Nominee.
