Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick was named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week after the game against Texas A&M. Fitzpatrick was instrumental in Alabama’s 27-19 win, racking up five tackles, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one interception. It is his second SEC Defensive Player of the Week of his career, and his third overall SEC weekly award.
Fitzpatrick’s interception was one of the key plays of the game. It ended a strong drive by Texas A&M which would have brought the Aggies within a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Fitzpatrick also recovered the onside kick that sealed the game for Alabama.
His other selection came after his three-interception performance against Arkansas in 2016. Fitzpatrick has 28 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and four pass breakups this season.
