As the Crimson Tide faces Vanderbilt this weekend, students following along for the game can also find a bustling music scene to explore. This weekend in Nashville, here is the lineup of bands:
Sylvan Esso at the Ryman Auditorium – Sylvan Esso will be performing on Friday night at 8 p.m. This group is an experimental group that utilizes a mix between American electropop and European club music to create its own sound. They have performed a set on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, creating a distinct reaction in the minds of its viewers. This music is experimental in nature and may not be what many attendees expect. Tickets are $30.
Vinyl Club, Epsiode 44 at the Wilburn Street Tavern – Every month at the Wilburn Street Tavern, DJs from all around are invited to show off their skills in front of a live crowd. Starting at 8 p.m. the Vinyl Club is hosting this event as an “open-mic night” for DJs to perform in 15 minute slots throughout the night. So far, this will be the 44th month in a row that the Vinyl Club is throwing the event, but it will be the last time that the Wilburn Street Tavern is hosting.
Sam Hunt with Maren Morris, Chris Janson and Ryan Follese at Ascend Ampitheater – As part of his 15 in a 30 Tour, Sam Hunt will be in Nashville performing at the Ascend Ampitheater this Friday and Saturday. Hunt will be joined by Maren Morris, Chris Janson & Ryan Follese as a part of this contemporary country show, as a showcase of diverse styles and skills in the genre. With the popularity of Hunt, including his hit “Body Like a Back Road,” this concert is expected to be packed tight.
Joey Nardone Trio at Rudy’s Jazz Room on Saturday for $15 – Accompanied by Jerry Navarro on Bass and Nioshi Jackson on Drums, Nardone is a jazz pianist that has performed as part of a jazz trio for years. He formed the Crimson Trio as a jazz trio that travelled from Nashville to Los Angeles. Nardone returns to Rudy’s Jazz Room this Saturday for a performance back in Nashville as part of a trio. Tickets are $15.
The Dead Boys feat. Cheetah Chrome at Little Harpeth Brewing – On Saturday, the Dead Boys featuring Cheetah Chrome will be performing at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7 p.m. The Dead Boys are a classic rock band that play punk rock music, toeing the line between the two styles of music. The group performing as The Dead Boys this weekend is a new group of past and new members after a long hiatus from performing. They are touring to different venues around the country to mark the 40th anniversary of their album, “Young Loud and Snotty.”
