This week, the Student Health Center and Pharmacy’s Department of Health Promotion & Wellness will be hosting the third annual Wellness Week on campus. In its third year, this collection of events is meant to offer students a way to be healthy in multiple different aspects. The events during Wellness Week are all free and open to anyone who shows up.
So far, Wellness Week has hosted a documentary screening of “Yeah, Maybe, No,” two sessions of group yoga (including Glow Yoga at Canterbury Church) and even free HIV testing. The idea behind every event in Wellness Week is to give students the tools to be healthy and remain healthy in our everyday routines.
On Wednesday, Sept. 13th, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. there will be a Student Health Fair in the Ferguson Plaza and a “Labyrinth Day” on the Ferguson Center Porch from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., where the first 200 students will receive a free pair of labyrinth socks. Additionally, there will be more HIV testing in the Ferguson Center – confidential and private – provided by Alabama Public Health.
On Thursday, Sept. 14, there will be Pop Up Fitness in the Ferguson Center Heritage Room from 6 – 7 p.m. and a SALT Financial Literacy Demo on the second floor of the Ferguson Center from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Pop Up Fitness will be hosted by The Barre Code, a new fitness facility located in downtown Tuscaloosa, and SALT is a non-profit program that teaches you how to manage your money and student loans to help prepare students for the future after graduation.
