The city of Tuscaloosa will be housing their business incubator, The Edge Entrepreneurship Center, in a new 26,300 square-foot facility. The plan is a collaboration among The University of Alabama, the City of Tuscaloosa and the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama. The building will be located at the former Armed Services Reserve Center armory.
The new facility will have 25 offices and 100 workstations to aid businesses through their growth period. The The Edge Entrepreneurship Center is part of a plan to help revitalize business growth to improve the economy in areas of Tuscaloosa that were damaged or destroyed during the 2011 tornado.
The center offers 24/7 private incubation space with affordable equipment and services, and also offers counseling and mentoring to new or developing businesses. The Edge’s website explains, “[the center’s] working environment caters to individuals who already have existing businesses or individuals who only have business propositions and need assistance in getting a business up and running.”
The center will be located at 2627 10th Avenue.
