Alabama soccer fell big on the road to No. 20 Florida on Thursday. The Gators took down the Crimson Tide, 6-0, making Alabama’s record fall to 8-7-1 overall and 3-5-1 in SEC play. The Gators improve their successful season with a record of 11-4 and 6-3 in the SEC.

Florida came out attacking early, with the Gators scoring in the 13th minute. Savannah Jordan received a pass from Mayra Pelayo and converted from eight yards out to give Florida a 1-0 lead. About 20 minutes later, Florida scored once again behind Melanie Monteagudo.

The final minutes of the half remained a two-goal game as Florida went into the lockeroom with the lead.

The second half was just as, if not more successful for the Gators. In the 66th minute, Meggie Dougherty Howard scored to improve Florida’s lead to 3-0. Moments later, Brooke Sharped continued the offensive downpour with a goal from three yards out. Seconds after their fourth goal, the Gators made it five, with Pamela Begic scoring. 

Florida, once again, was not done. Kit Loferski scored from 10 yards to give the Gators a huge 6-0 lead. Luckily for Alabama, that was the end of it.

Although the team gave up six goals, junior Kat Stratton managed to record seven saves for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama will look to shake off the loss when the team travels to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to match up with the LSU Tigers on Sunday. That game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. CT kickoff.
