On Monday, linebackers Ryan Anderson and Reuben Foster were announced as semifinalists for the Butkus award, which is given to the nation’s top college linebacker each season.
The list includes 12 linebackers and Alabama is the only school represented by more than one athlete. Finalists for the award will be announced on Nov. 21 and the winner we’ll be decided by Dec. 6.
Foster currently leads the Crimson Tide with 53 tackles. He has also recorded 1.5 sacks and 4.5 total tackles for loss.
Anderson has recorded less tackles (29), but he’s done a lot more damage behind the line of scrimmage. He currently has 11.5 tackles for a loss of 61 yards. Included in that is Anderson’s 4.5 sacks for a loss of 38 yards. Anderson has also forced a team-high three fumbles.
