On Wednesday, March 29, the Bama Theatre will host the Andrew Duhon Trio. A native of New Orleans, Andrew Duhon has previously toured as a solo folk artist. The group is relatively newly formed, incorporating the musical expertise of Myles Weeks, an upright bassist, and Maxwell Zemanovic, a drummer. In 2014, the trio’s first collaborative album, “The Moorings” was nominated for the Best Engineered Album Grammy award.
As an artist, Duhon reimagines traditional folk music, adding a modern twist to the genre. His haunting lyrics are relatable, grounded in commonplace American experiences, such as a small town girl’s unplanned pregnancy in the song “Just Another Beautiful Girl.”
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m. There is a $12 cover charge. Following the Tuscaloosa show, the Andrew Duhon Trio will perform twice more before concluding in Lexington, Kentucky on April 1 as part of a more comprehensive tour of the South and Northeast.
