Artists from across the South will set up in Government Plaza this Saturday for the Druid City Arts Festival. You’ll find music, food, children’s arts and crafts and over 80 artists and craftspeople with work for sale. Here are five vendors you won’t want to miss this weekend.

Sweet Home Chicago

Local baker Laura Clark will bring her jellies and jams to the festival this weekend for the second year in a row. She’ll have traditional flavors like blueberry, strawberry and peach, but also her own creations like pineapple jalapeno, apple pear with toasted walnuts and carrot cake jam. All of her jellies and jams use natural pectin in place of sugar to cut out some of that sugar content found in artificial jams at the store, Clark said.

Kentuck Clay Co-op

The Kentuck Arts Center’s clay co-op will have 16 members with creations for sale this weekend, member Judith Wheeler said. The clay co-op gives local potters of all different skill levels a place to create works using community equipment. On Saturday, the co-op will have different kinds of handmade clay artwork for sale including plates, bowls, platters and small statues.

Junkyard Bots

Birmingham based artist Diana Vest searches estate sales, flea markets, antique stores and auctions to find the material to create her bots, according to her website junkyarbots.com. This makes each bot one of a kind. Vest then assembles them  with bolts and screws to make them sturdy and long lasting. Examples of previously made bots can be found on her website.

A Writer’s Whimsy

Tuscaloosa-based A Writer’s Whimsy will sell original t-shirts and tank tops, designed by hand, and printed locally according to their website, awriterswhimsy.com. Their designs include shirts and tanks featuring an elephant filled in with geometric designs, as wells as shirts featuring other southern phrases and scripture.

Cottage Industry Soap Company

Cottage Industry Soap Company will have their locally made bath products for sale this Saturday, including shea butter, soap bars, bath salts, sugar scrubs and clay masks. They’ll also have bubble bath ice cream, a cocoa butter and organic shea butter mix that makes bubbles in the tub, and bath bombs. Examples of their products can be found on their Etsy page, www.etsy.com/shop/CottageIndustrySoap.
