On Sunday, Alabama alum and former Alabama track star Kirani James finished the 400m with a time of 43.76 seconds to earn a silver medal in the 2016 Olympic Games taking place in Rio.
James also earned a gold medal finish in the 400m as a competitor in the 2012 Olympic Games taking place in London. He is the only athlete representing Grenada to ever finish on the podium in any Olympic events.
First-place finisher Wayde Van Niekerk broke the world record, finishing with a time of 43.03 running from the outside lane.
