A lot happened in the span of four days as coaches addressed the media before the start of fall camp. A brief recap of the first two days can be read here, and highlights from days three and four are below.
Highlights:
Coach Nick Saban kicked off day three in Hoover, Alabama. He and his players discussed how the Crimson Tide is preparing to defend its title in 2016 and which players are standing out prior to the beginning of fall camp.
Mark Stoops’ teams have just missed out on bowl eligibility the last two years, but the Wildcats are ready to take the next step in 2016.
Missouri coach Barry Odom was new to SEC Media Days, but he isn’t the only new face in Columbia, Missouri this summer. He addressed the sudden departure of athletic director Mack Rhoades, and discussed which players, including one former Alabama wide receiver, are stepping up as leaders for the Tigers.
Arkansas coach Bret Bielema gave everyone, regardless of which school they supported, something to laugh at with his take on what the word sexy meant. In between jokes outlined the path his program will need to take to finish the season in Atlanta at the SEC Championship.
South Carolina’s Will Muschamp is a familiar face at SEC Media Days, but this was the first year he wore the Gamecocks’ colors. He and his players discussed lessons learned from losses in the SEC and how the Gamecocks intend to turn things around in 2016.
LSU coach Les Miles is no stranger to the road less traveled, but he took a little time away from his summer updates to express his thoughts on current events and the role he thinks his team should play in helping the community once the season starts.
Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze spent plenty of time addressing the ongoing NCAA investigation during his time at the podium, however he and his players insist the team remains focused on competing in the challenging SEC West.
At the conclusion of the SEC Media Days, Alabama was picked to finish the season with it’s third consecutive SEC Championship victory, but the love for the Crimson Tide didn’t stop there. Alabama also led all schools with 13 players selected to the preseason All-SEC Team.
