On Monday, coach Jenny Mainz announced the addition of Second Team All-Big 12 women’s tennis player, Smith Hinton, to her program.
Smith, a junior, transfers after winning 10 matches in singles play as the Kansas Jayhawks’ primary option for court two. In doubles play she finished 24-8 despite playing with three different partners throughout the year.
“We’re enthusiastic about Smith joining our Alabama tennis family,” Mainz said. “Smith brings a wealth of experience to our team as she’s played at the top of the lineup at Kansas. She has continued to elevate her game and was recognized with All-Big 12 honors last year. Smith is undoubtedly going to positively impact our team.”
The Raleigh, North Carolina native was one of two Kansas players on the team, and the first since 2008 to receive all-conference honors. As a freshman, Hinton finished her season with 19 overall victories and was named Co-Big 12 Player of the Week on April 6, 2015 when she led her team to a victory over in-state rival Kansas State.
