No. 4 Alabama softball scored eight in the first two games at No. 16 Texas A&M to take the series before dropping the final game in five innings.

On Friday night, seven of Alabama’s eight runs came from the long ball in the 8-3 win. Senior centerfielder Haylie McCleney hit a grand slam, and senior first baseman Leona Lafaele hit two home runs in the win. Lafaele had three home runs over the weekend. Junior right-hander Sydney Littlejohn picked up the win in 5 1/3 innings pitched. She allowed three runs on four hits. She walked two and struck out three.

The Crimson Tide took the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader 8-7. The Aggies scored four in the bottom of the seventh to make it a one-run game before Littlejohn finished off the Aggies’ late surge. Sophomore right-hander Alexis Osorio (12-5) picked up the win in 6 1/3 innings pitched. She gave up six runs on seven hits.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Alabama fell behind 10-0 after two innings and eventually lost 14-1 in five innings. The Crimson Tide notched together one run on three hits.

Littlejohn (17-3) took her first SEC loss. She pitched 1 2/3 innings pitched. She allowed seven runs on six hits and walked three. Freshman left-hander Madi Moore pitched 2/3 inning of relief. She gave up three runs on three hits. Moore walked two and struck out one. Osorio pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief. She gave up four runs on five hits. She walked one and struck out four.

The 14 runs were the second-most given up in program history. 

Alabama (38-8) hosts South Alabama (26-12) on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
