After its first spring scrimmage, the Alabama football team returned to the field for practice on Monday. The team went through a pretty routine practice in its ninth session overall.
Former Alabama and current Falcons player Julio Jones was present at the beginning of practice, but left after a few minutes. Also in attendance was another former Crimson Tide member, Jeremiah Castille.
Notes:
- Quarterbacks, such as David Cornwell and Cooper Bateman, worked with running backs to start the period, but then switched to throwing many different routes to the wide receivers.
- Running backs worked on running routes out of the back field with the quarterbacks. Then, the group transitioned to quickness and handoff drills with select coaches.
- The offensive line worked on usual drills that concerned blocking skills and strength. Brad Bozeman was seen practicing at tackle today as players on the offensive line continue to try out different positions.
- The safeties and cornerbacks worked on hitting drills at the beginning of the viewing period with secondary coach Derrick Ansley and head coach Nick Saban. Then, Saban worked directly with the cornerbacks on technique drills that improved hand strength.
- After working on individual drills, both the inside linebackers and outside linebackers came together to walk through calls and where to go when the ball is snapped. Certain members of the secondary also joined them to work on plays.
