WHAT: UA Makerspace Workshop – Capturing the Past: Scanning and Printing Fossils
WHO: College of Arts & Sciences
WHEN: Wednesday, March 3, 2 – 3 p.m.
WHERE: Rodgers Library
WHY: “In general, these workshops are exploring some new technologies available to students on campus,” said Jamey Grimes, professor in the graphic arts department at the University. “Next Wednesday, we will explore recent use of the NextEngine Scanner, which allows for powerful scans of 3D objects … With the proper training, the NextEngine scanner is able to produce high quality 3D models that can be shared digitally, or 3D printed. I believe it is important to educate our campus community on potential applications for this device. We will discuss successful projects from (the) University’s own Museum of Natural History as examples.”
