The Jack Kerowax Band is set to play in Tuscaloosa on Sept. 7 at the Green Bar located downtown. The Dallas band recently released their debut album,“Kerowax,” and will be returning to Tuscaloosa for the second time.

Johnny Beauford, Nathan Adamson, Garret Padgett and Nash Griggs make up the Americana – Rock Quartet. The band was started at a club in Dallas called The Free Man, which is where a lot of the first album was created.

“The album started as a solo project of mine, and the songs were all written around the time I was getting married to my wife in 2011. Some of the songs are based on real events such as “Empire State” being tied directly to my honeymoon in NYC,” Beauford said.

The band’s unique sound has caught the attention from radio stations in Dallas as well as in different countries around the world. The single off of their debut album, “Bliss” has been played regularly in Dallas and has also been played in Ireland, England and France.

“Our sound can most easily be described as Americana, but there are flashes of psych rock, blues, country and 60’s pop mixed in as well. We all draw from the music we have heard and been exposed to in the past,” Beauford said.

New music from the band was recorded at the end of Aug. and plans are set to release  a few new songs and live versions from “Kerowax” in late Sept. The Sept. 7 show will be the second time the band has played at Green Bar, the band’s manager Matt Kelly said.

“We played in Tuscaloosa in May of last year, and we loved it,” Beauford said. “We made some Tuscaloosa friends, so we are following it up because we all had a good time.”

The Green Bar is an original music venue located in downtown Tuscaloosa. They specialize in local craft beers, cocktails served in glassware and music, Chris Lloyd, the assistant general manager, said.

“We’re really happy that Jack Kerowax decided to come back to Tuscaloosa. They played a great show in May, and we’re excited to see all the guys in the band again,” Lloyd said.

Jack Kerowax will play at The Green Bar on Sept. 7. Tickets can be purchased at the door. For additional information visit The Green Bar’s Facebook page or call (205)366-0913.
