A 20-year-old man was found dead of a suspected heroin overdose at the Woodlands apartment complex on Wednesday night, according to Tuscaloosa County Homicide on Thursday morning.
The victim was found unresponsive in his bedroom by friends and was pronounced dead when rescue officials arrived on the scene.
“Witnesses told officers on the scene that when they got the apartment they found another male passed out in the victim bed. The male told investigators that he and the victim had purchased drugs and the victim used the heroin,” Captain Loyd Baker of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said in an emailed statement.
The name of the deceased man has not been released. His friend, 19 year-old University of Alabama student, Preston Huckabay was arrested by police on accounts of unlawful possession of controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to an online arrest report.
