Alabama football’s NIL Collective, Yea Alabama, announced new jersey numbers for its football players ahead of spring practice on social media.
The announcement included numbers for returnees, transfers and incoming freshmen.
Headlining the changes is wide receiver Ryan Williams, who switched from No. 2 to No. 1. His nameplate will also now read “Coleman-Williams,” adding his mother’s last name.
Fellow returning pass-catchers Lotzeir Brooks and Rico Scott will also don new numbers. Brooks is switching from No. 17 to No. 3 and Scott from No. 11 to No. 7, numbers worn by receivers Jaylen Mbakwe and Cole Adams last season.
New additions to the receiver room include NC State transfer Noah Rodgers, wearing No. 5, and freshman Cederian Morgan, wearing No. 8.
Morgan drew comparisons in high school to Alabama legend and future NFL Hall of Famer Julio Jones, who wore No. 8 in his time in Tuscaloosa.
Other notable announced offensive numbers include running back Kevin Riley, No. 6; tight end Marshall Pritchett, No. 9; former five-star freshmen Ezavier Crowell, No. 13; and quarterback Jett Thomalla, No. 15.
Senior linebacker Deontae Lawson wore No. 0 last season as the leader of the defense. Now that role appears to have passed on to Yhonzae Pierre, as he will wear Lawson’s number.
Similarly, freshman linebacker Xavier Griffin will wear No. 11, last worn by first-round pick and fellow linebacker Jihaad Campbell.
Other notable announced defensive numbers include transfers Devan Thompkins, No. 1, and Terrance Green, No. 99. Returning safety Red Morgan is also swapping from No. 16 to No. 6.
Alabama opens spring practice Sunday. Fans’ first look at the new numbers will be A-Day, currently slated for April 11 at 1 p.m. CT.
