Following its second round exit in the SEC Tournament to the Florida Gators last week, Alabama volleyball’s season is officially over. Alabama finished with a 14-13 record, including a 5-10 SEC record, which is its highest number of SEC wins in a season under head coach Rashinda Reed.
Multiple players stood out in Alabama’s season offensively. Victoria Barrett, who transferred from Towson, dominated on the offensive side of the ball with 13.3 kills per game along with 36.7 total attacks and a .181 hitting percentage. Hannah Parant, a redshirt freshman, led the SEC in service aces (52) and services aces per set (.52) which includes 10 aces on Sept. 18 against Memphis, the third highest in program history.
Defensively, Trinity Stanger led the way. The transfer from Pepperdine recorded at least 10 digs in 23 out of 27 matches this season including a season best 22 against Georgia on Oct. 17. Ashby Daniel was able to establish some consistency up front toward the end of the season with at least three blocks in four of the last seven games, including a season high of nine in the first round of the SEC Tournament.
“We’ve fought through a lot of adversity through the season, and now we’re peaking at the right time,” Reed said. “We’re always going to be a team that challenges people, and that’s part of the culture that we’re building.”
Alabama did have its struggles this season. The team is tied in the SEC for last in hitting percentage (.207) and ranked in the bottom four in errors committed (552) and kills (1247). The team also struggled to close out sets, blowing leads late against Mississippi State, Georgia and Ole Miss.
“We kept fighting throughout all the hardships,” Kaleigh Palmer said. “I am really proud of the way we kept fighting and came out with a bunch of wins.”
The future looks bright for Alabama, as the team has the No. 21-ranked recruiting class for 2026 via Adrenaline.com. It may be only a matter of time before Alabama makes a name for itself in the SEC.
