Crimson Tide defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. was arrested and charged with three counts of reckless endangerment, one count of attempting to elude and speeding, according to Sgt. Josh Hastings of the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Kirkpatrick was booked into Tuscaloosa County Jail at noon on Saturday during a bye weekend for the Crimson Tide football team. Hastings said Kirkpatrick was released on a $1,500 bond approximately one hour later.
The University of Alabama Police Department is currently leading the investigation and did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“We are aware of an incident involving Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. and are working to gather more details at this time,” said Alex Thompson, director of communications for Alabama Athletics.
Kirkpatrick, a sophomore from Gadsden, has played every game this season and earned nine stops, according to Rolltide.com.
