The Tuscaloosa Amphitheater will be offering discounted tickets for UA students to five upcoming shows this fall. Students may purchase the tickets for $15 with proof of their student ID.

The student discount will be available for the performances of Charlie Wilson with Chrisette Michele on Sept. 7, Alan Jackson on Sept. 13, Kelly Clarkson with The Fray on Sept. 14 and Gotye with Missy Higgins on Oct. 4.

This will be the first year the amphitheater will offer discounted rates and several UA students are glad to have the opportunity to see more shows at lower prices.

Alexandra Norton, a junior majoring in elementary education, said she thinks offering cheaper tickets is a positive decision for the amphitheater.

“I’d go see Alan Jackson and Kelly Clarkson, but I probably wouldn’t go if the tickets weren’t discounted,” Norton said. “I think it will help because tickets are cheaper and college students usually can’t afford tickets to concerts like that.”

Jonathan Brazelton, a sophomore majoring in athletic training, would be willing to pay full price for one of the concerts, but agrees that the discount is good for ticket sales.

“Kelly Clarkson with the Fray would be the only show I’d be interested in. I would pay full price for those tickets, but the discount would be nice.”

To receive the student discount, tickets must be purchased at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater box office and a student ID must be presented at the time of purchase.
