The University announced at a press conference Wednesday that Bryant-Denny Stadium will have free WiFi for every home game this football season.
“The athletic department has undergone some major facility upgrades,” said Nick Frenz, University associate director of event management and transportation services. He said that the first two home games will be a “soft roll out” to fix any bugs before the rest of the season.
Other gameday changes, such as parking, were also discussed at the conference, as well as adjustments to security.
“Safety and security is paramount for us, and we’re only able to accomplish that through collaboration with outside agencies as well as University departments,” said Chad Stephens, an administrative and support captain for the University of Alabama Police Department. “It’s about creating that safe fun experience for the fans, and the thing we would like to tell them, don’t do anything that would draw attention to yourself, that would be harmful for yourself or others.”
On campus parking will increase from $35 to $40 when purchased on Saturday. Any purchase made on Friday before midnight will still be $35. Three new designated ride share locations have also been created to get to and from the stadium:
- Thomas Street behind Publix
- Hackberry Lane next to Chimes Condos
- Corner of Campus Drive East and Bryce Lawn Drive
