Intro: Alabama was a tad more gracious to the Million Dollar Band this week, waiting until the third play to score its first touchdown of the game. Two weeks ago against New Mexico State, the Crimson Tide found the end zone on its first play of the drive. The band was not yet in its seats after its performance of the national anthem, as Henry Ruggs III sprinted past the Aggie defense for 75 yards to put Alabama up seven. Similar to the game against New Mexico State, Alabama ran away with the game winning 49-7. 

Play of the game: On Alabama’s third play of the game, Ruggs found some open space in the middle of the field on an RPO slant. Ruggs made the Southern Miss defender miss and waltzed 45 yards for the score.

• Terrell Lewis was seen in sweatpants and his crimson jersey prior to kickoff. Christopher Allen got the start in Lewis’ place. 
• On the third play of Alabama’s opening drive Ruggs  broke free for a 45-yard touchdown. With the touchdown, Ruggs has 20 for his career, tying him for second in program history with fellow wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.
• Ruggs made a second trip to the end zone on Alabama’s next drive, breezing past a Southern Miss defensive back and adjusting to a deep throw from Tua Tagovailoa. His 74-yard touchdown was the 21st of his career, breaking the second-place tie with Jeudy.
• Najee Harris caught a short 5-yard pass from Tagovailoa on the next drive, his third receiving touchdown in the last two games.
• Jeudy caught back up with Ruggs on a 17-yard touchdown, the 21st of his career. That was Alabama’s fourth score on four drives. 
• Southern Miss got on the board with a 4-yard touchdown pass with 1:02 left before halftime. Alabama freshman nose tackle D.J. Dale went to the locker room one play earlier.
• Brian Robinson Jr. added a 6-yard rushing touchdown to extend Alabama’s lead to 42-7.
• With his 293 passing yards, Tagovailoa jumped from eighth to fifth on Alabama’s career passing yards list. His five passing touchdowns bring his career total (passing and rushing) to 79, one behind A.J. McCarron’s school record of 80.
