Gramatik to play Druid City Music Hall

Gramatik+to+play+Druid+City+Music+Hall

Gramatik, a musician mostly known for his upbeat singles “Muy Tranquilo” and “Hit That Jive,” will be performing at the Druid City Music Hall tonight, Monday Feb. 26 at 8:30 p.m. Tickets at the door are $28. The show is for all ages and doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Gramatik is an electronic artist, musician and producer from Portorož, Slovenia. His style is mostly a blend of dubstep, electro, hip hop, trip hop and glitch. Gramatik grew up with influences like American hip hop artists RZA, Dr. Dre and DJ Premier. He also got inspiration from European electronic music from the early 2000s.

Gramatik’s performance at the Druid City Music Hall is part of his Re:Coil Tour and he will be joined by two other musicians, Haywyre and Balkan Bump.

Haywyre was created by Martin Vogt in 2009. It is a project that synthesizes the contemporary electronic genre with more traditional genres such as jazz and classical music.

Vogt has spent 14 years studying piano performance, so piano improvisation is the heart and soul of all his music. It has become the core of his musical identity and is his primary tool for composition.

Haywyre has gone on tour with Zedd, Mat Zo and Gramatik after the success of his “Two Fold, Pt. 1” LP in 2014. He has since been on a mission to provide his audiences with variety and originality while telling a narrative through his music.

Balkan Bump, or Will Magid, is a trumpet player and producer. He is a Lowtemp music artist with an original song, “Aymo,” that is out now.

Balkan Bump is also an ethnomusicologist, which means he strives to understand what music means to both the musicians and their audiences, and how meanings are conveyed in the music.

Ethnomusicology is the study of music in its cultural context and it approaches music as a social process. The goal is to understand what music is and why it is. The discipline generally focuses on non-Western music.
