Within the last four weeks, the Crimson Tide football program acquired two new players via the transfer portal to be beneficial additions to the offense. Kaden Strayhorn and Josh Ford address key positional needs as Alabama looks to improve its offensive production moving forward.
Ford, a tight end transfer from Oklahoma State, committed to Alabama on Dec. 16.
Ford joined the Cowboys in 2024 and played with them for two seasons, combining for a career 137 yards on 13 receptions, along with two touchdowns. Ford was also ranked as the 24th best tight end in the transfer portal by 247Sports, adding experience and depth to Alabama’s tight end room.
Kaden Strayhorn, an offensive lineman, joined the Crimson Tide offense on Jan. 6. A sophomore transfer from Michigan, Strayhorn has the ability to make a big impact on the offensive line for the Crimson Tide, especially after former offensive linemen Wilkin Formby, Micah DeBose and Joseph Ionata entered the transfer portal this past week, leaving gaps along the line.
“Thank you Jesus, Bama nation … I AM HOME!” Strayhorn said in a post to X on Monday.
The Crimson Tide averaged 104.1 rushing yards per game in the 2025 season, ranking 15th out of 16 teams in the SEC. In a report by On3, Strayhorn looks to be part of the solution to “address needs in the trenches,” an area Alabama has emphasized this offseason.
With the two new additions to the offensive game plan, the Crimson Tide offense looks to work hard this offseason and come back with a stronger and more consistent run game heading into the 2026 season.
