As summer draws to a close and the fall semester rapidly approaches, Tuscamovesya, a local moving business, is gearing up to help students move for the third year in a row. What began as a small operation started by student veteran John Bailey has grown into a popular name for students and residents alike.
Bailey started the business during a season of change, adjusting from Marine life to student life.
“When I founded Tuscamovesya, I was going through a transition out of the Marine Corps and had just moved by myself,” Bailey said. “Realizing how strenuous that could be, I decided to seek out the market.”
Since starting Tuscamovesya, Bailey has found that his military experience has heavily impacted how he runs the business, as well as how he treats his customers.
“I believe that dependability and enthusiasm have been the most valuable traits that I’ve carried over,” Bailey said. “For some families, we’re the very first interaction they have with anyone in Tuscaloosa, so it’s important that we show up on time, with energy and a strong work ethic.”
Bailey says that he and his team are dedicated to the Tuscaloosa community, simply because of how much love they have for it.
“Every member of the Tuscamovesya team takes great pride in our town,” he said. “We have all met here at the University and are involved in many different organizations, clubs and on and off-campus jobs around town.”
Since starting the business, Bailey’s sights have been set on making it the best it can be. With consistent growth every moving season, it’s allowed him to do things that wouldn’t have been possible at the beginning.
“Over the past three years, Tuscamovesya has been working to create the most efficient scheduling possible,” he said. “Now, we have a quick and easy form on our website that adds the client straight into the calendar and sends them a confirmation email, which has allowed for much better communication and time management.”
These improvements have allowed the company to experience success in its short history, but Bailey attributes Tuscamovesya’s success to the team’s work ethic.
“I credit our company’s growth to consistency, reliability and community ties,” he said. “People trust us because we’re not just showing up for the job, we’re a part of the same community they’re moving into. That local pride shows in every move we complete.”
