Soccer picked to finish fifth in SEC in 2022

The votes from the 14 Southeastern Conference head soccer coaches are in, and the Alabama Crimson Tide is fifth in the conference’s preseason coaches’ poll. 

The team finished its lone exhibition game with a 3-1 victory over Vanderbilt. The Commodores are tied with Georgia at sixth in the poll. At the top of the bill is Tennessee, followed by Arkansas. 

In-state rival Auburn finished one spot ahead of Alabama. The Tigers narrowly missed being the fifth SEC team in the preseason Top 25 (Arkansas, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Ole Miss). In addition to the conference vote, five programs in the conference also received mention in the United Soccer Coaches preseason rankings. 

Among SEC West teams, Alabama is third highest in the poll behind Arkansas and Auburn. The full results, as voted by head coaches in the SEC, are as follows:

Regular season play begins on Aug. 18, when the Crimson Tide will travel to Boca Raton to take on the Florida Atlantic Owls. The match is set for 6 p.m. CT.
