After Alabama’s 12-3 loss to Arkansas on Friday, coach Brad Bohannon announced sophomore catcher Sam Praytor will miss the rest of the season with a season-ending injury.

Praytor sustained the injury in the first game of the Ball State series in February. He threw down to second base before the inning started and grabbed his elbow after making the throw before the start of the seventh inning.

He played in the second game as a pinch hitter but was the final out and has missed every game since.

Praytor finishes the year with four hits, two of which were home runs, in 18 at bats. He scored six runs and knocked three in.

As a freshman, Praytor started 43 of the 45 games he played, finishing with a .279 batting average. He finished with three home runs, while knocking in 16 RBIs. He finished the year on a tear, reaching base 20 of the team’s final 21 games. He finished with 25 walks. He led the team in conference play with 21 walks and a .430 on-base percentage.
