Organization Takeover will take place in the Ferguson Center Wednesday for students to meet people involved in organizations.

Ryan Waelde, director of inclusion and outreach for the Source and a senior, said Organization Takeover is a great opportunity for clubs to follow up to spring’s Get On Board Day, which took place Jan. 17.

What: The Source is providing student organizations the chance to host meetings with new and prospective members at Organization Takeover

Who: The Source, student organizations and any students interested in joining a club can attend

When: Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 5-10 p.m.

Where: Ferguson Student Center

Why:

“Get On Board Day is kind of a hectic situation,” Waelde said. “There is a lot going on, so [Organization Takeover] is really a great way for organizations to have kind of a more intimate meeting with their members and kind of go into more depth about what their organization does, and it’s really also a great way for students to find out more about their organization away from the hecticness of Get On Board Day.”

Waelde said Organization Takeover came about because Get On Board Day can be a little stressful for a lot of people, so the Source wanted to create an event that allowed organizations to go more in-depth and even have more time with students, as opposed to just the five minutes of passing by their tables.

Waelde said the Source tracks attendance at Organization Takeover and provides rooms by renting out all of the rooms in the Ferguson Student Center.

“Basically, we have those rooms registered, and [student organizations] can do that free of charge, and we also provide food to our organizations as well, whether that’s before or after their meeting during Organization Takeover,” Waelde said.
