UAPD sends email about robbery on Sunday

An email was sent to students around 4 a.m. on Sunday detailing a University of Alabama Police Department investigation of an on-campus robbery.

The email states that UAPD investigated a robbery in the parking area of Solomon’s Lot at around 1:15 a.m. on Sunday. The two victims told police that, while in their vehicle, they were approached by a 5’8”-5’10” black male suspect who they say wore a black hoodie with silver lettering and  who had a silver weapon.

The victims said the perpetrator demanded their cash and other property and then fled the scene.

The email detailed several safety considerations for students and community members, noting that they should be careful and mindful of any valuables they carry and of their surroundings.

“If confronted,” the email read, “give the criminal what they ask for. Your safety is not worth jeopardizing.”

Anyone who has additional information about the crime should call UAPD at 205-348-5454 or Crime Stoppers at 205-752-7867.
