Alabama lost its third straight series and its fourth straight loss overall, after the 5-4 loss to Ole Miss.

The game was tied heading to the bottom of the ninth inning. After a lead-off ground out, Ole Miss sent Tate Blackman to the plate. He saw two pitches go by before ending the game with a home run to left field.

Alabama lead for most of the game, taking the lead in the second inning because of a Chandler Taylor home run to right field. It added to its lead in the third inning coming off a Cody Henry single to right field, and again in the fourth inning with a solo home run hit by Connor Short.

Ole Miss scored its first run in the top of the fourth inning coming off a ground out by Thomas Dillon. The Rebels scored the majority of their runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning, trailing 4-1. With two runners on Nick Fortes hit a single to center scoring the first run. After a walk to load the bases, Cole Zabowski hit a fly ball to right to score the second run, followed by another sacrifice fly hit by Grae Kessinger, to tie the game.

Taylor and Henry both finished 2-for-4 with an RBI each. Taylor’s home run was his eighth of the season, which is one less than the number of home runs he hit last year.

Garrett Suchey finished with the loss for the Crimson Tide. He finished with 3.1 innings pitched and allowed just one run. Starter Nick Eicholtz finished with a no decision. He finished going five innings and allowed four runs.

Alabama looks to avoid the sweep on Sunday at 3 p.m.
