The University of Alabama has named its new Vice President and Associate Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Dr. G. Christine Taylor. Taylor has more than 25 years of experience working in the education field. This decision came from search committee chairman Greg Singleton and his 14 other committee members.

Taylor is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in broadcast journalism and earned her Masters and Doctoral degrees from Ohio University. She has spent six years at Purdue University as the Chief Diversity Officer and Vice Provost of Diversity and Inclusion.

“Dr. Taylor brings an impressive record of professional success in diversity and inclusion at the higher education level, making her the ideal choice for this inaugural role,” said University provost Kevin Whitaker. “With more than 25 years of experience, we are excited to have Dr. Taylor lead the University in accomplishing its goals around diversity, equity and inclusion.”

According to Whitaker, the University is confident in Taylor’s ability to lead a culture of diversity and inclusion, given her track record.
