Alabama picked to finish near last in conference play

If the media is right coach Avery Johnson’s first season is going to be a long one.

On Tuesday members of the media made preseason predictions regarding the upcoming SEC basketball season. The Crimson Tide was picked to finish next to last in the league ahead of only Missouri, but Alabama was only a single point behind Tennessee. The Crimson Tide finished ninth in the league last season.

Kentucky was picked to win the conference again this season. Following the Wildcats was Vanderbilt, Texas A&M and LSU respectively. 

Alabama’s season begins on Nov. 13 against Kennesaw State. The Crimson Tide begins SEC play in Oxford, Mississippi on Jan. 7.
