Four star quarterback Trent Seaborn announced his commitment to play football at the University of Alabama on Oct. 20
Seaborn is from Alabaster, a town only about an hour from Bryant-Denny Stadium. He held offers from Georgia, Auburn, Oregon, LSU and many other high profile FBS programs, but it has clearly been Alabama in his mind from the beginning.
Originally from Hawaii, Seaborn grew up around and trained with Tua and Taulia Tagovailoa from a very young age. In fact, it was Tua’s father, Galu, who first saw the potential in a young Trent.
“With what I’d gone through with Tua and Taulia, I kind of saw something similar to what Trent was going through,” Galu Tagovailoa said. “So I was like, man, this kid’s gonna be special.”
The Seaborn family would make the trip out to Alabama to watch Taulia at Thompson High School in Alabaster on Friday nights and then Tua in Bryant-Denny the following Saturday. Watching his idol play in Tuscaloosa sparked his love for the crimson and white.
Now a junior THS, Seaborn has already written himself into state lore with two 7A state championships. The first was nothing short of legendary.
When he was only in eighth grade, Seaborn completed 12 of 14 passes for five touchdowns in a state championship blowout over Auburn High School. That was just the beginning for the young star.
As a sophomore, Seaborn accounted for 2,675 passing yards and 26 touchdowns, growing his offers and allowing him two options — stay in Alabama and play for his dream school, or move close to home and play on the west coast. But how often is one’s dream laid in front of them?
Prior to the Crimson Tide’s matchup with Tennessee on the Third Saturday in October, Seaborn informed head coach Kalen DeBoer of his decision to commit.
Despite all of the stardom, including hundreds of thousands of new fans since his commitment, the young quarterback manages to keep everything in perspective.
“Trent is a humble kid,” his dad Jason said. “His love for Jesus is real, and he refuses to get a big head. He has a lot of work to do, but Trent is not afraid of hard work.”
Seaborn will be a part of the 2027-28 quarterback room that will include either Keelon Russell or Austin Mack as the incumbent starter, along with 2026 commits Jett Thomalla and fellow Hawaii native Tayden Kaawa. The Crimson Tide also recently received crystal ball predictions for Elijah Haven, the nation’s No. 1 signal caller in the class of 2027.
To lead Alabama on Nick Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium will be a tall task, but Seaborn is up to the challenge. In his message to fans after his commitment, Seaborn made his intentions to become the starting quarterback clear: “I praise and thank God and give Our Heavenly Father all glory for the opportunity and challenge to compete and play at Alabama.”
Thank God, compete, play. Those are Seaborn’s intentions when he finally puts on the crimson and white just as he dreamed for so many years.
