One man has been charged with murder for a shooting death Saturday. Two other separate shootings that occurred on Saturday and Sunday, injuring multiple people, are currently being investigated.
3400 block of Greensboro Avenue
The Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to an alleged shooting at a storage facility on the 3400 block of Greensboro Avenue, at approximately 10:50 p.m. on Saturday. The victim, Keeondray Sterling, 37, was found dead at the scene. This is the second time a murder has occurred at the facility this year, following the April 19 murder of Autumn Mack.
Cordell Shepherd, 37, was arrested and charged with murder after he contacted the police and reported that he had shot Sterling. He is being held in Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond. Police say the shooting occurred during “an argument over a woman.”
Cottondale Efficiency Apartments
At approximately 8 p.m. Saturday, TPD and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting at Cottondale Efficiency Apartments. Police reported that multiple vehicles and a residence had been shot into, with several persons receiving “very minor” injuries.
The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit is currently investigating the case with multiple charges pending, including attempted murder.
800 Block of 33rd Avenue
TPD responded to a shooting at the 800 Block of 33rd Avenue at 12:06 a.m. on Sunday. One person was found to have been shot multiple times with non-life-threatening injuries. VCU is currently investigating the case.
