With Alabama’s 2025 baseball season set to open on Friday, the team looks to improve under head coach Rob Vaughn’s second season at the helm. Here are some key matchups on the Crimson Tide’s schedule.
Feb. 14-16 — Opening weekend
The Crimson Tide opens its season in Tuscaloosa against Bradley University. Bradley went 13-31-1 in 2024 compared to the Crimson Tide’s record of 33-24, so barring any major setbacks, this should be a clean sweep. Alabama swept its last opening series against Manhattan College in 2024.
Feb. 21-23 — Jacksonville Classic
The following week, Alabama heads to Jacksonville to play against Coastal Carolina, NC State and Ohio State. Alabama played in the Frisco Classic the previous season, winning two of three games. However, in this series, both Coastal Carolina (36-25) and NC State (38-23) finished with better records than Alabama in 2024, so the Crimson Tide’s first test of the season could come early on.
March 14-16 — First SEC matchup
Alabama opens SEC play against the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station. The Aggies won 2 of 3 in Tuscaloosa in 2024 while they were ranked No. 1 in the nation at the time. Texas A&M was also the runner-up in the 2024 College World Series, meaning Alabama has a big challenge to face for its first SEC matchup.
March 21-23 — Tennessee weekend
Alabama will head to Knoxville to take on the defending national champions in March. Last season, Alabama won two of three in Tuscaloosa, thanks to clutch runs in the 8th inning, including a Gage Miller home run. This time, Alabama will have to find a way to slow down Tennessee’s momentum if it wants to win the series again.
April 4-6 — Auburn rivalry
Alabama will travel to face rival Auburn during the first weekend in April. The Tigers took care of business last season, winning two out of three against the Crimson Tide, including a thrilling 12-11 victory in Game 2. Alabama will hope to get revenge this season.
May 20-25 — SEC Tournament
The Crimson Tide hopes to rebound from last year’s tournament, where it suffered a 10-5 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks. Alabama was then placed in the Tallahassee Regional, where the team lost to UCF and Stetson, ending its season.
